MPI / Eddy Current Inspections
We offer both Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Eddy Current Testing (ECT) for detecting surface and subsurface defects in metallic components. These are forms of non-destructive testing (NDT) that allow cracks, flaws, or other irregularities to be identified with great accuracy without damaging the material.
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI):
In this method, a magnetic field is applied to the component, after which iron particles are introduced. Any cracks or defects cause a disturbance in the magnetic field, which becomes immediately visible as the particles accumulate at the defect. This technique is particularly suitable for detecting fine cracks or weld imperfections at the surface.
Eddy Current Testing (ECT):
This method uses electromagnetic eddy currents flowing through the material. Defects such as cracks or corrosion disrupt the current pattern and can be detected in this way. ECT is highly effective for detecting corrosion, hairline cracks, and variations in material thickness, even just below the surface.
